Warm white and blue

I can't help but love the warm combination of creams and pale blues.   Whether it's in the bedroom, living room, or dining room, the palette always seems to evoke comfort and calm. I especially love it paired with natural wood. floors or furnishings.   Here are a few designers that I think have really mastered the look.  Tricia Foley created a feature wall of whites with built in cabinets and simple white china.  In an adjacent room she reversed the look, with blue on the walls and creamy white upholstery.  In the bedroom, Samantha Pynn, has layered various cream and linen textures, and pairs it with patterns of blue in the headboard and club chairs.  Barbara Barry, below, plays with light in a room with oversize windows.  In the large room, she pairs it down with statement furniture, that adds colour and pattern.  And way below, a picture from the Mrs Howard Shop, where the look is pulled together in their showroom.

  1. am loving the window treatment in the last shot. Would never have thought to do a softly coloured sheer with a cream drapery like that, But I gotta say I think we should start a new trend. Scrumptious!

  2. these are all gorgeous but the second Foley shot, with the blue walls/white upholstery is particularly exquisite, especially with the carpet breaking up the potential for full-on 'matchy-matchy'.

Thanks for sharing these. I was in sore need of some calm.

  4. Blue and white is such a classic colour combination. Love all these beautiful rooms, especially the second one with the huge grey cabinet.

  7. All of the images are beautiful, but the first two by Tricia Foley are inspiring. I feel serene just looking at those rooms.
