From Paris with Love

If you have been dreaming of a trip to Paris (like me), and it isn't anywhere on the horizon, I offer you a little inspiration from Paris with Love. This interior is beautifully decorated to offer a little escape from the ordinary of everyday life. From the creamy white settee, to the gold gilded mirrors, crystal chandelier, and bistro dining chairs this home offers all the French touches in a bright and refreshing light. The soft green colours on the wall paper and ottoman are so soothing., and the bright pops of green and yellow through floral arrangements, draw your attention to the many special pieces in the space.

This interior was created by Margot Austin, Sr design editor at Style at Home Magazine, stylist, decorator and woman of impeccable taste. Margot's blog is one of my fave daily reads because it's filled with inspiring images of interiors, furniture, fashion and all things beautiful, with brief captions of her incredibly intuitive perspective.

Colour Country

This country home is located in Sonoma Wine Country, and is second residence for a young growing family. Interior Designer Jay Jeffers played with beautiful warm colours to bring this home to life. Persimmon, Sunny yellow and shimmery greens are some of the main themes throughout this wine country home, that are reflective of the vineyards themselves.
The furnishings are a mix of custom and antique which give this home a zesty update to traditional. Designed with comfort in mind, the home is completely relaxed even in it's formal settings. The mix of structured sleek furnishings with rustic elements is delightful. The ottomans and window coverings in yellow sun room above, paired with slipcovers and comfy cushions is so inviting. The light fixture in the dining room below by artist Carl Dern and made of twisted copper, with dangling crystals. It's a showstopper in this warm and cozy dining room.
You can visit the for the JDG portfolio for a gallery of incredible interiors, including this one called Tradition with a Twist. There is also also an article for when this home was featured in California Home and Design, where it received an award in 2008.

A walk in Old St Petersburgh

The series of watercolours above is the masterful work of artist Svetlana Gadjieva, of Russia. These European cityscapes are dreamy and romantic even with the somewhat somber mood they evoke; perhaps a time that is sadly missed. They are much like a distant memory, so soft and muted with some sharp details that remain ingrained in the mind. The architectural elements and fashion are just lovely.

Keeping it Cool

It's always especially enjoyable to stumble across a home where the homeowners have made choices that are so similar to your own. This is how I felt about this home located in Atlanta, and designed by Jo Rabaut. The formal room is filled with soothing colours, natural fabrics and of course a wood burning fireplace, for ambiance and warmth. Perfect for reading and entertaining.
A dramatic Dining room, that is still soft and light, with a large dining table for entertaining my huge family and friends. Plenty of space to walk around the table (or run for those under the age of 10) and linger well after dessert has been served.

A huge kitchen, with lots of cabinet space for all occasion serving stored inside, and a pantry located just off to the side that stores all the "secret" ingredients to my fabulous dinners. Light cabinets are a must, and a dark contrasting counter is a little dramatic. A big window over the sink is perfect for washing dishes, with a second sink on the counter for food that is located close to the stove. More of that wonderful seaside blue in this kitchen.

Organized closet space with glass doors to see where everything is. Large counter space for laying out accessories, and all the feminine touches a girl could ask for.

The master bath is beautiful, the detailing on the tiled floor is breathtaking. A Fireplace in the Master suite is perfect for unwinding in the evenings after the little ones are off to bed, or at the end of an exhausting work day. Can you think of a better way to put the day to rest?
Ask anyone who knows me about my love of washing, folding and ironing. It is the most therapeutic of house chores for me. This laundry room is a wonderfully peaceful place to take pride in everyday housework. From hand washing my favorite articles of clothing, or even washing up after kids crafts. Like the rest of the home it's bright, spacious and so soothing.
Thanks to Erin at House of Turquoise for bringing my attention to this fabulous home.

Classically Inspired
