That Old Feeling

I know that many people love the charm and character of an old home with great old bones, but I love a new build!  I really do.  And this home is no exception.  It was featured in At Home in Arkansas, and is the home of a custom builder.  They called on their friend, designer Mona Thompson, to help plan a design aesthetic that incorporated the architectural elements.  I think the result is fabulous.  They chose classic design, and incorporated many old world elements to make it feel like it was build year ago. The beautifully arched windows and doorways, the stone floors and walls, rustic beams, and a great iron staircase.  They opted for a paired down style, focusing on highlighting a few key pieces, like antiques and lighting.  Lastly they reworked the layout to eliminate rooms that wouldnt' get much use, and to enlarge the high traffic areas.   What do you think?

To Cindy...the floors through-out the main floor are stained concrete, except the Master bedroom...which is carpet. Hickory wood graces the stairs and upstairs. Thanks again. Mona
