Anvil Iron on Home Sav

The Cline Table, by Lisa Ferguson

I couldn't be happier about this wonderful collaboration between Lisa Ferguson, principal designer at Lisa Ferguson Interior Design (and Founder of Decor Mentor), and my company Anvil.  Lisa is incredibly talented and her formula for success includes layering great materials and textures. over classic elements. I was thrilled when she asked if we could make this table for her.  She designed a simple c table and made it fabulous by selecting a beautifully textured metal, and pairing it with a rich exotic wood.  This week only, the Cline table is for sale on Home Sav for $226.00 .
I hope that you will stop by and have a look.

French and Fabulous on Houzz

Thanks to Lily Gahagan over at Houzz, every now and again I am invited to create an idea book with some of my favorite product finds.  This month, I opted to fill it with my love of old world France .  Sure, French design can often be over the top. The key is to pick just a few of the right pieces to mix into your space.  A mirror, a chandelier, a settee; they can have huge impact without having to fully commit to an entire room loaded with Louis XIV period furnishings.

Have a look at some of my French and Fabulous finds.

The High Life

Is it everyone's dream to have a house in the country and a condo in the city, or just mine?  Check out the amazing Toronto skyline on this beautiful property on Lakeshore West.   I love that in the library there are two chairs perfectly poised for viewing the waterfront, and all it's beauty on clear days.

Bright Beauty

Just a glimpse into this San Francisco home designed by Stephen Shubel.  The home dates back to 1910, and is a former Russian consolate.  The designer worked closely with the architect to restore many of the homes original features.  I just can't get over what an incredibly warm, elegant, updated and inviting space this is.  The furnishings are exquisite from antique mirrors, lighting, intricately carved sofa legs and lush fabrics.  The bathroom is amazing with it's antique mirrored wall, and the mirror that graces it.

Serenity in the Hills

Owners of the Summer Hill Furniture company, Don and Rela Gleason, partnered with McAlpine Tankersley to create this incredibly serene home in Napa Valley.  A rustic but elegant setting, the design style follows the modern philosophy that less is more.  Architectural details, steel windows, antique and newly customized furnishings fall on a white canvas, highlighting their sophisticated details.  The home is a vast retreat with three pavilions that are joined by breeze ways.  With all it's space, they comprised a plan to keep the structure only one room deep when possible.  Which not only allows for incredible  light, but also keeps the spaces quaint.  The master bath, is a pavilion in itself.  What it lacks in a quaint and private retreat, it makes up for in a breathtaking elegant escape.

Understated Elegance

Oh Donna Karan, you never disappoint!  This line up for fall is simply beautiful.  The colours are soft and subdued, but the textures and draping add a beautiful elegance. Images are for Japanese magazine, Numero Tokyo.  Each portrait of model Chloe Memisevic is captivating.  The fantasic fabric, simplified make up ad her striking features make a romantic and mystifying photograph.

Gorgeous Gray

And here lies the dilemma. I know food stands out on the back drop of a white kitchen, but I look at this beautiful gray and adore it.  Paired with a mahogany top it's fabulous dinner or prep surface. It also happens to be lower maintenance.  Love the look with antique pendants and industrial stools.

Great White

I know, It's huge! But sometimes it has to be if you want to have a place for everything. A place to  clean and wash, a place to prepare, a place to cook, and a place to eat!   I am the type of cook, who would make use of every square inch. And let me tell you that the wood burning fireplace oven, would probably get the most use of all.  Have you ever eaten a lasagna that comes out of an oven like that?  I mean a real lasagna, the handmade pasta layers are so thin, with mouth watering sauce and cheese between each layer, some tiny meatballs and that is it.  My mother makes the best lasagna in the world, and she would love this kitchen!

Grass Walls

If you haven't skipped over to New England Homes Mag to see this property, you must.  The dining room is just one of the incredible rooms to view. The grass cloth walls add an incredible balance to this room.  And how can you not love the mix of woods, from light to dark?  Check out that beautiful over sized lamp to the right.  I only wish we could see more!

Sunday Driving

Driving through the country on a fall afternoon has to be one of my favorite sights ever! If you are lucky enough to pass by a horse farm, you may find yourself day dreaming of. riding through endless fields of gold on a beautiful horse, as I often do.  Cheers to Sunday Driving!

Work Wear

I have such a hard time finding good clothes for work! Mainly because, I need pieces that are comfortable, stylish, durable and adaptable.  One minute I could be meeting a client and the next I am picking out steel, and if you ever worked with raw steel, it ain't pretty! On bad days, I have shredded my clothes! I gotta tell ya, Banana Republic is one of my frequent stops when the seasons change.  Especially if they have a sale on, like one of those 30% off your entire purchase, including sale items.. I love those!!  Here is a glimpse of some of my favorite looks from BR this season!
